Career and Technical Education
Introduction
Rhea County in Southeast Tennessee is situated between the Cumberland
Mountains to the west and the Tennessee River to the east. The economic base
has moved from agricultural twenty years ago to an industrial base. The largest
employer in the count is the La-Z-Boy Chair Company with almost 1900 workers.
The Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar Dam and Nuclear Plant is also a major
employer.
The high school serves students from the Dayton City system
and the Rhea County system. The school has an approximate enrollment of 1500
students. The ethnic make up includes 96% Caucasian, 2.5% African-American,
1% Hispanic, and 0.33% Asian. The school offers 14 Vocational Programs with
15 teachers.
Rhea County High School is Accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools.
