EVERY Monday of the school year you will be given a multiple choice test over 10 vocabulary words for a grade. You will be given a study guide with each week's 10 vocabulary words and their definitions. The study guide for the following week will be distributed on Monday after the current week's test is completed. Therefore, you will have ONE FULL week to study the 10 words for your test. Please staple or tape your study guide in your assignment book, so you won't lose it. In the event that we are not in school or you are absent on a Monday, the test will be given on the following school day you attend. Please do not ask for exceptions, because you will have at least one week to study for each test.
You will be required to keep a reading notebook throughout the year. In the notebook you will define all of the vocabulary words from each reading story as well as any other necessary reading material. The definitions for ALL words must be completed in this order: vocabulary word, pronunciation key, part of speech, & definition. All words and information that you are required to have in your notebook will be on the board in the classroom or in your reading book. These will be turned in for a reading grade as we finish each reading unit. The due dates will be announced as they become available. However, the notebooks are usually taken up one or two times each six weeks period.
