Nurse's Notes @FES

Frazier Bears

-Welcome to our school! Here are some things that you need to know.

Only medications that can't be taken at home can be given at school. All medications require a doctor's order. They must be brought to school by a parent in the original container. School nurses cannot give missed dosages of medication..All changes must be accompanied by a doctor's order. Nurse cannot take the parents word as to changes. Medication must be removed at end of school or it will be destroyed. Inhalers may be carried at school with written permission form, available from the nurses office.

When NOT to send your child to school ; if your child has vomited after midnight the night before, they have a fever greater than 100, if they have diarrhea, or an unexplained rash. Children cannot be sent home without a documentable reason, which include the above.Other reasons to send home are lice, nits, head injuries, suspicion of broken bones, suspicion of strep or other communicable diseases. Nurse cannot call parent just because a child does not feel well.

The Rhea County school board has a no nits policy. At our school head checks are done at least once every 6 weeks. If your child is found to have nits ,they will be sent home. On their return they must report to the nurses office to be checked before they may return to class.

Watch out for the Flu Bug!
