Please remember- Attendance is important! Incentives will be given each grading period for perfect attendance. This includes tardies and early dismissals, unless a doctor’s excuse is provided. Students are allowed no more than five unexcused “mommy notes” per year.

We invite family members to eat lunch with us. If you would like to eat in the cafeteria, please send me a note so I can let the cafeteria know you will be purchasing an adult lunch. You will need to sign in at the office when you arrive. The cost to eat lunch in the cafeteria is $3.25.

Homework

Your child will receive a homework packet every Monday containing the week’s homework. This packet will be due each Friday. Please do not let your child do it all in one night. Each night your child should spend at least 20 minutes on homework. If they finish the assigned work they can read for homework.  I will not assign any homework the first week of school.

Snacks

Due to the fact that first grade eats lunch so late, we will have a snack at 9:35 in the morning. If you would like to send snacks for the class, send them with your child to school. The snack needs to be healthy, and cannot include chocolate. Here are a few suggestions: pretzels, goldfish, chex mix, fruit, and cereal. We will also try to tie snack-time into a lesson whenever possible. Let me know if you have any ideas or questions.

Money

Any money sent to school with your child should be placed in an envelope or zip lock bag with your child’s name, teacher’s name, and amount written on the front. This comes in handy if the money is lost or stolen.

Book Orders

Book orders will be sent home every month. I encourage you to order from these if possible. You can often find good books very cheap. Our class also earns points toward classroom books for each dollar you spend. If paying by check, be sure to make it out to the school, and not to me. Thank you.
