Reading RecoveryŠ Teacher
2009-2010
Reading RecoveryŠ is a program designed to help first grade students become more successful readers and writers. A teacher trained to identify, diagnose, and meet the needs of beginning readers will work individually with a child for thirty minutes each day. The child will also be reciving reading in the regular classroom. The program lasts about 12-20 weeks. At the end of this time, each child will be retested to see the gains that have been made in the program. Developed in the 1970s by Marie Clay, Reading RecoveryŠ is a different way of teaching reading. It has helped many first grade children understand early reading strategies, develop phonemic awareness, and become more confident in the classroom. |
