Reading/Language Arts terms to know

encyclopedia: A set of books or a cd rom that contains information on all sorts of topics. Topics are arranged in alphabetical order. encyclopedias are good to use when writing a report about someone or something.

thesaurus: a book that contains words with synonyms and antonyms for the words (arranged in alphabetical order)

atlas: a book of maps

internet: communication through computer networks

almanac: A book or table listing astronomical, nautical or other events for the year; sometimes, but not essentially, containing historical and statistical information.

plural: more than one (example: boys)

singular: only one (example: boy)

noun: names a person place or thing

verb: a word that shows action

adjective: A word that describes a noun (they tell how many or what kind)

pronoun: takes the place of a noun or nouns (I, he, she, it, you, her, him, they, them, their, us, we, ect.)

It is very important for all students to be at school during testing dates. Also, be sure your child eats a healthy breakfast and gets plenty of rest during TCAP week...It is their time to shine!

*I will need volunteers to donate healthy snacks and drinks during TCAP week. Any donations are very much appreciated.

DVD's of the performance will be sold.

Tues., April 20th 3rd Grade Performance of "Tide Pool Condos" @ 8:30 a.m. for students of RCES (K-5) and any parent who could not attend Monday night's performance.

Fri., May 14th 3rd Grade Farm Day Field Trip
