How can I help my child at home?
Take about 15 minutes to listen to your child read the books in the Reading Recovery@ bag each night. Allow the child to look at the pictures as he or she learns to read.
If there is a cut-up sentence, take time to glue it on the provided sheet. This is very important for early lessons!
Praise your child! He or she is working hard each day with the Reading Recovery teacher.
Go over the sight word cards each day with your child. Fast recognition will help your child read text more fluently.
Call , email, orsend a note to the Reading Recovery teacher, if you should have questions about how your child is progressing. The Reading Recovery teacher will know exactly what text level your child is reading on, how many sight words he or she is able to read and write fluently, and how your child is processing as he or she reads.
