All About Me

I have been teaching Language Arts for eleven years at Rhea Central. In addition to my teaching certification, I have a degree in journalism. I am married to Ed McNair, who is an electrical engineer. I have two children. My daughter, Tami, is a hairstylist in Chattanooga and has one daughter, Leeah. My son, Will, is a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy Submarine Service. He and his wife, Anissa, have three children: Brendan, Jaramia, and Sienna.

My hobbies are reading, gardening, and scuba diving. When it's too cold to plant trees and flowers, I read every chance I get. We have recently built a new house, and I stay pretty busy planting as many trees and flowers as I can. (Yes, I am a real "tree hugger!")

As for my diving hobby, I have been diving in Aruba, the Florida Keys, and in the Caymen Islands. I have also frozen while diving in a quarry in Athens, Tennessee. (You only do this when you are really wanting to dive and don't have the time to travel to warmer places.) I used to be a volunteer diver in the Tennessee Aquarium, feeding fish and cleaning the glass walls in the tanks. My schedule got a little crowded, and I had to give this up. (Plus, they added the big sharks to the tank!) I've only seen one shark while diving out in the open...a nurse shark, who, when it heard our bubbles, quickly swam away. However, I certainly don't want to voluntarily jump into a tank which I know contains sharks!
