Mrs. Pendergrass’s Newsletter

                                                              January 19-22, 2010

-Jacket card sales have been extended through next Friday, January 29. Your child may turn them in after that, but will not qualify for the prizes. Just a reminder, if he/she sells at least 10, that exempts them from all written TEAM homework in April. If he/she sells at least 20, that exempts them from all written TEAM homework in April and May.

-The Writing Assessment is coming up on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Please make sure that your child is giving his/her best effort during writing assignments. This test counts for 33% of your child’s language art’s score on TCAPs.

-Book order money is due by this Friday, Jan. 22.

Math (Mrs. Pendergrass)- This week we will be working on comparing and ordering fractions and mixed numbers as well as classifying triangles. It is extremely important that your child is here every day, because we are covering multiple lessons each day preparing for TCAPs.

Homework- I gave you all your homework for the week on a separate sheet. For Monday night’s, you need to complete it where I put the problem. Make sure you show what you divided by and that you reduce it ALL THE WAY. For Tuesday and Wednesday night’s, do it on the back of the sheet. Make sure you space between these two nights of homework so that I can see what is what.

(Mrs. Farnsworth)- Science and Social Studies

Social Studies will be our focus this week.  We will be discussing the transcontinental railroad as well as new industries and inventions.

We will also be discussing Vocabulary words that are important to know!

Friday – Vocabulary Quiz

Students Science Tests must be signed and returned.  Corrections  should be made on a separate piece of paper for an extra grade.

Reading and Spelling (Mr. Swafford)- This week we are working on reading skills.

English (Mr. Swafford)- This week we will continue preparing for the TCAP writing assessment
