I would like to take this time to welcome you back or to Rhea County High School.  I look forward to teaching you this year.  It is my desire to treat you as adults.  In return, I expect the very best from each of you.  To be successful in my class, as in life, you must be willing to work.  I promise to give you the very best I have.  Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that has been given to you.

How to be Successful in Mathematics:

A)        Be present and on time.  Attendance and punctuality are expected and are considered to be

one measure of your interest and effort in the course.  You are taking a challenging course that

requires you to be mentally and physically prepared.  Poor attendance puts you behind.  Do not

               get behind.

B)        Be prepared.  Always bring your book, workbook, paper, and a pencil (no pens are allowed)

to class.  Bring your assignment from the day before and ask questions on those problems that you

struggled with.  When the bell rings, I am ready to teach.  You need to be ready to learn.

C)        Work from Bell to Bell.  You will have a significant amount of homework in this class.  If

you want to do well in this course, you will take full advantage of the time I give you to work on

your homework and ask me questions in class.  You will be able to work together provided that

you stay quiet and respectful at all times.

D)        Do YOUR Homework.  CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!  Those who cheat will

be dealt with according to the cheating policy set forth by Rhea County High School.  You are

hurting yourself and your grade by cheating.  If you do your homework, you will have a better

understanding of the material and will do better on the tests and quizzes.

E)        Ask Questions and Take Good Notes.  You are hurting yourself when you do not ask

questions.  Your notes are essential when you are struggling so you can look back at what we did

               in class.
