Well we are off to another great year! Schedule changes for the most part are over, Yeah! I look forward to seeing all of the students in the class room in October. I will be doing a transcript review and preparing them to take the ASVAB. That test will be given on October 6th and 7th. It is a wonderful test that shows strengths and likes, and the best part is that it is free.

I welcome all parents and students to come by and see me at anytime. Ask any question sthat you are wondering. This is a busy time and I am very excited about working with you this year.

For all of you anxious parents...........You need to check your child's transcript. If you are hoping for a Hope Scholarship your child needs to have a minimum GPA of 3.0. If it is not there yet, we have a little time to work on it, but let's get started. Juniors will be taking the ACT test at RCHS in March. If you wish for your child to take the test an additional time they can, they will need to register and pay the $36. ACT packets are available in the guidance office. Each student planning to attend college needs to take this test. By the end of the Junior year, my goal is to have each of these college bound students take the national ACT and narrow their college choices down to around three. Application deadlines for the optimum scholarships at colleges/universities is November of Senior year. It is not crunch time yet, but it is something to think about. I will help in any way that I can. Many of you have taken me up on that and have made appointments with me. We will continue to work together and give your child the opportunity to do whatever he/she desires.

All athletes need to register withe the clearing house by second semester. This is the only way that colleges/universities can contact you about playing for their school. You can click on the NCAA link below to register. Make an appointment if you get confused.

Set your goals and make a plan to achieve them. Don't forget the decisions you make today will affect your future.

Here are a list of the graduation requirements for my Juniors. For those of you graduating in 2013 and beyond this will not apply to you.

A transcript is a list of all of the classes you have taken, what grade you received, and how many credits you have earned. It also shows your Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and your class rank. If you would like a copy of your transcript come see me in the guidance office. Your NGA is just a different way of averaging your grades. It is out of 100. You will need to have a 95 to be accepted into the Academic Champions. Make that your goal.

You are more than half way through your high school experience. I hope you are making the best of it. Anything is possible at this point. If you messed up in the past, let's put it behind us.

I want each of you to sit down with me and put together a senior year plan before your senior year. PARENTS are welcome to come in and do this with us. Let's work together and make the last half of high school a wonderful experience for our kids.
