FRESHMAN ENGLISH

Honors

Welcome to Freshman Honors English!!!

I look forward to meeting all of you on the first day of school. Parents, you are invited to come with your children and go with them as they follow their schedules and find their classrooms.

You will need the following materials for this class: a three-ring notebook; white, loose-leaf paper; a pack of notebook dividers; and ink pens with blue or black ink. I do not allow my English students to write with a pencil. They will only need a pencil to take a scantron test, which does not occur very often. For the second semester beginning in January, a copy of the novel Animal Farm will be needed.

Students, you will be receiving during the first full week of school a syllabus containing a list of most assignments for the first semester; therefore, you will know fairly quickly what we will cover in the class and what types of assignments will be required of you. Homework will mainly comprise reading, writing papers, studying vocabulary and literary terms, and preparing for oral presentations.

See you soon!

Wednesday, August 6 Students and Parents report to the gymnasium at 8:00 a.m. for orientation. Students will be sent from there to their first-period classes and will then follow their schedules, being in each class for about 15 minutes. Bring your schedule with you.
